Our team seeks a Bike Shop Mechanic to create a better outdoor experience by offering knowledge, giving recommendations, and engaging with customers daily. This job contributes to REI’s success by assembling, servicing, and maintaining all rental bikes, equipment, and supplies to REI and manufacturer standards. The Bike Shop Mechanic uses customer service skills and industry knowledge to assist guests in person and on the phone. The Bike Shop Mechanic is responsible for completion of daily tasks and monitoring all bike shop inventory. This role models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission. Responsibilities and Qualifications

How you will be successful:

  • Execute shop services meeting or exceeding customer and REI expectations for quality and safety standards. Assemble, service and repair action sports equipment to REI and/or manufacturer standards.

  • Provide exceptional customer service by assessing customer needs, checking in and out shop and rental equipment per REI standards.

  • Assist with maintaining equipment and ensure a clean, secure and safe work environment.

  • Reports significant quality and safety issues and inventory needs to the bike shop supervisor or manager.

  • Helps create a positive customer experience, including fitting bikes.

  • Delivers bikes to rental customers/guests at offsite locations.

  • Maintains rental bikes at all “onsite” locations.

  • Facilitates day tour and multi-day tour guide needs (loading & unloading etc.)

Your qualities:

  • Able to learn technical skills and demonstrateproficiency while in role.

  • 1-2 years bike shop mechanic experience

  • 2+ years customer service experience (preferred)

  • 2+ years industry experience (preferred)

  • Effectively partners with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of business goals.

  • Flexible in one's viewpoints and positions in order to help the direction taken by others at REI.

  • Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in problem solving.

  • Consolidates information from various sources including feedback from others to reach sound choices.

  • Considers the ultimate impact of outcomes and actions on internal and external customers.

  • Works smart by setting effective work goals, establishing priorities, and planning well in order to produce quality work.

  • Executes effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals.

Pay Range
