Universal Health Services PHP Therapist - New Bern in NEW BERN, North Carolina

Responsibilities

Horizon Health, the nation’s largest operator of hospital based behavioral health services, in partnership with CarolinaEast Health System in New Bern, NC is seeking a Therapist for its Partial Hospitalization Behavioral Health Program.

Responsibilities include treatment planning and discharge planning, 20 hours of group therapy per week, as well as occasional individual and family sessions. Participates in referral development processes and activities as requested.

Essential Core Functions:

  • Schedules and completes assessments, including admission paperwork.

  • Facilitates group sessions, as well as occasional individual and family sessions, completing all necessary documentation.

  • Schedules assessments, meetings, and appointments as appropriate.

  • Communicates with referral sources, family members, providers, and treatment facilities, all while respecting HIPAA.

  • Participates as an active member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.

  • Addresses issues in a timely manner including crisis and higher level of care referrals.

  • At all times, conducts oneself ethically in accordance with all relevant standards and regulations.

  • Maintains knowledge of and demonstrates respect for patient rights.

  • Works sufficient hours to ensure effective performance. Coordinates work hours with supervisor.

  • Researches and collects community-based resource information.

  • Advocates for patients and communicates with providers in the community.

  • Contributes to the achievement of program annual performance goals.

  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops. Keeps up to date on professional literature.

  • Maintain effectiveness and certification in required patient management protocols.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

  • A master’s degree form an accredited college with a major in Psychology, Mental Health Counseling or Social Work.

  • Must have a valid state license as required by North Carolina in which the Mental Health Therapist will be providing services (LMHC, LMHC-A, LCSW, LCSW-A).

  • Minimum of one-year experience in a similar position or industry.

  • Proficient in software application.

  • Emotional regulation is essential.

  • Maintains a positive attitude while in the facility and in all work-related activities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to write detailed correspondence.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings to patients, families, program leadership, coworkers etc.
