Job Description

The Bid Manager leads a team of professionals that develop, cost and negotiate VEOLIA’s largest and most complex system proposals.

As Bid manager, you are accountable for complex system tenders. Working alongside Process, Applications, Sales and Contract Management, you bring together the design, costing and contract structure to produce a complete and competitive bid. As leader of these bid-based teams, you balance technical requirements, schedule, cost and risk. Developing large EPC or extended-scope projects, you establish partner relationships, evaluate capability, and align contract structures. Together with Sales, you set strategy for the proposal and maintain our technical/commercial client contact. As bids move through the selection process, you are instrumental in negotiation and contract finalization.

The Bid Manager operates in a networked and highly flexible role, adjusting or expanding responsibilities and scope to meet the needs of the job or client. A successful Bid Manager is a strong leader - able to form diverse teams; operate under ambiguity and changing conditions; and communicate a shared vision.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

 Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, finance or equivalent

 Ten (10) years’ professional experience including:

  • Process/project engineering, sales, business development or similar work

  • Work in complex industrial or municipal projects, including EPC (engineering,

procurement and construction) contracts

  • Project scheduling and costing experience

Useful skills or abilities:

 Experience with industrial processes and system design/operation – direct experience in

water treatment preferred but not required

 Impeccable organization and time management

 Clear, concise communication and presentation skills

 Team player, with the ability to exercise good judgement under changing conditions

 French, Spanish or Chinese language skills may be useful

 The role requires the ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20% of the time
