Job Description:

The Digital Worlds Institute in the College of the Arts seeks a professional Adjunct Lecturer to teach DIG 3588C Digital Portfolio. This course equips students with the technical and design skills necessary to craft compelling digital portfolios featuring interactive media, suitable for professional distribution. Additionally, students will learn strategies for leveraging social media, digital branding, and personal marketing to enhance their professional presence.

This remote position requires an estimated 8-12 hours/week to support this course. This time-limited appointment is from August 16, 2024 – December 31, 2024. This online course comes with pre-created asynchronous learning content, assessments, and supplemental materials and requires the instructor of record to provide online facilitation, development of supplemental content, grading, and feedback.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate online learning while creating and maintaining a positive and engaging online learning environment.

  • Facilitate instruction of course materials for DIG 3588C Digital Portfolio.

  • Develop and assess student assignments, providing timely and constructive feedback on student work.

  • Monitor and respond to student inquiries and discussions in the online course platform.

  • Follow the course schedule closely to keep abreast of current industry trends in social media, digital branding, personal marketing, professional development.

  • Promote academic integrity and enforce course policies and guidelines.

  • Utilize appropriate online learning platforms, communication tools (including Zoom), and digital resources to deliver course content effectively.

  • Maintain an organized course schedule and be available to students for support and clarification through online communication channels.

  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of online learners and create an inclusive and supportive online learning environment.

Expected Salary:

$4,500 – 5,000 commensurate with experience

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or related discipline with significant years of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate will bring to the position:

  • Master's Degree or higher in a relevant field or related discipline.

  • Experience teaching or instructing in an online or asynchronous setting.

  • Industry experience in game design, animation, studio film production, or user-experience.

  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and engagement.

  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate student needs and maintain regular online presence.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and provide timely feedback and support to students.

  • Evidence of success in promoting an environment that advances pluralism, curiosity, viewpoint diversity, open discourse, and the well-being of all.

  • Demonstrated expertise and professional experience relevant to the course content for DIG3305 3D Digital Animation Techniques, such as 3D modeling, rigging, texturing, and animation.

  • Proficiency in industry-standard software tools relevant to course content such as Autodesk Maya and Adobe Suite.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex concepts and provide constructive feedback to students.

  • Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Excellent organizational skills to develop and deliver course content within the designated timeframe.
