Amazon Sr. Software Dev Engineer, Benefits eXperience Technology (BXT) in Seattle, Washington

We are building a delightful mobile and web experience integrated with internal and external systems, so employees don’t have to go through hoops to get what they want. The Enrollment Unit is responsible for services that are delivering an Enrollment experience on AtoZ to our customers and the underlying integration with vendors to provision elections. For the US, it'll deliver improvements to the Enrollment experience for New Hires, Qualified Life Events (QLE), and Open Enrollment. Among the improvements, we'll deliver better choice architecture (nudge) mechanisms, short videos, choice tools (calculators/simulators), etc. For an additional 16 countries, we'll launch the full Enrollment Experience allowing us to deprecate 3P vendors, including the data migration, and diff tools to measure accuracy of our services. It's also responsible for the Enrollment Services (Election Service, Window Service, etc.), Vendor Integration, Vendor Reconciliation, Life Events (Experience & Service), and Dependents & Beneficiaries (Experience & Service). This team will also work closely with the Foundation and the Discovery & Experience team to deliver the Currency-based Benefit Store for OE 2025 in the US.

Key job responsibilities

As a senior SDE on the team you will be responsible for leading the development and launch of core services and product features for the Benefits Tech platform. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these product features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product. The ideal candidate will be passionate about new opportunities and has a demonstrable track record of success in delivering new features and products. A commitment to team work, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Creating reliable, scalable, and high performance products requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of Computer Science, and practical experience building large-scale distributed systems. This person has thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products/services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift fast.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
