Sanford Laboratories is looking for our next leader! The Laboratory Client Support Manager will oversee a highly experienced team that manages calls regarding laboratory testing specifications, specimen handling and result inquiries. This position also manages communications to clients, laboratorians and healthcare providers about laboratory test changes and updates. Laboratory experience, dedication to customer service and a high degree of professionalism are must-haves to lead this team!

Job Summary

Responsible for providing administrative leadership and expertise to the client support department. Follows standard operating procedures and ensures safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met. Responsible for providing leadership during the day-to-day operations of the laboratory client support department. Acts as a point of contact to client support staff, responds to questions and provides direction. Manages the operations of the Sanford Laboratory Client Support department including human resources, budget and finance, short- and long-range planning, legal and regulatory compliance. Must be experienced in pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of laboratory testing. Demonstrate critical and independent judgement in decision-making and problem-solving. Demonstrate personal commitment to the principles, values, and ethics of the organization to promote a positive work environment. Seek personal learning opportunities. Recognize safety hazards and comply with all safety practices and protocols. May assist in the training and competency assessment of staff. Serve as a laboratory resource to other healthcare personnel and collaborate with other departments across the enterprise. Will effectively interview, hire, counsel, discipline, and when needed, terminate employees. Develop and monitor appropriate indicators for quality and continuous improvement. Responsible for providing professional and technical expertise. Responsible for implementing the vision and mission, plan and standards of the organization within the departments. Responsible for providing leadership in the day-to-day operations of client support. Must work closely and collaborate with the department director and other enterprise leadership to oversee areas of responsibility. Expected to contribute to the strategic planning process, day-to-day operations and attainment of goals of the organization. Maintain a positive work environment for the client support staff and develop a team approach to optimize work flow, improve customer satisfaction and reduce errors. Responsible for providing leadership in the day to day operations of the department. Work closely and collaborate with the department director and other department leadership to oversee areas of responsibility. May have fiscal responsibility for areas of accountability. May be required to travel to other enterprise locations. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences required.

Five years laboratory related experience required. Must have at least two years of leadership/management experience.

Possess a national laboratory certification or laboratory specialty certification through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); or be registry eligible. If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice. May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
